Story
Our project aims to reduce inequalities, increase social inclusiveness and reduce the burden on the families of visually impaired people, by producing printed and 3D Braille markers, to make roads, public travel, and buildings accessible.
There is a lack of suppliers for Braille and 3D markers on local and national levels. Imports are expensive due to shipping fees and relatively small quantities, while foreign products also lack localization (not written in Romanian).
Visually impaired people will be able to be more independent & active, the accessible environments we create allowing them to move around unassisted. They will be able to use the roads, and public transportation, and access buildings safely and independently.
This will lead to better inclusion, less marginalization, fewer mental health issues, and more chances to become productive members of society.
We aim to raise 6,250 € to cover the following costs:
Initial costs
– Equipment (3D & binder) 2,000 €
- 3D Printer for 2-color, high contrast prints – 1 × 1,000 €
- Binder (450+ pages) – 1 × 1,000 €
Running costs (for 6 months)
– Supplies 2,150 €
- Braille Printer Paper (A4, 250 sheets) – 100 × 12.50 € = 1,250 €
- PLA Filament (1 kg) – 30 × 30 € = 900 €
– Wages 1,600 €
- Operator / IT technician with 3D design training (half-time) – 1 × 1,600 €
– Utilities 500 €
- Electricity – 100 €
- Heating – 400 €
Our contribution to the project includes an A4+ Braille printer, valued at 5,000 € and covering half of the operator’s wages for the project’s duration (1,600 €).
Our campaign reduces inequalities, increases social inclusiveness, and reduces the burden on the families of visually impaired people.
Our backers can proudly exhibit the proof of their generosity by getting personalized nameplates depending on their contribution.
They also have the opportunity to make their home, work, and other environments accessible at a discounted price.
